Request written terms covering the records in scope, permitted uses, access, retention, exclusivity and payment. Check your authority to share the material, including restrictions in customer and employee agreements. A company’s website is an introduction; your signed agreement governs the deal. Ask the company to explain its own data-rights and usage arrangements, and ask your adviser about your authority to license.
